Diatonic Major Scale Modes
2 octave scale patterns for 7 Diatonic Modes using all 6 strings and starting with the second finger on 6th string. Alternate Fingerings proposed.
* 2 Octave +1 Scale Fingering (can be the same as 3 note per string fingering).
* All Start with 2nd finger on 6th string.
* Roman Number with Asterisk (*) Indicates Left hand Fixed Position on the fingerboard. if position changes should be indicated.
* Left-Hand fingering and Tablature for easy understanding.
* All 7 Formulas are Movible figures, they don't use any open string (this means that they can be transposed to any tonality)
* To better memorize the six string pattern we can divide it into 2 sets of 3 strings each, accommodating 2 consecutive modes, and following these fingering formulas:
2 - 3 -3 / 3 - 2 - 3 (Six-string long pattern)
2 - 3 - 3 / 2 - 3 - 3 (Equal String/finger formula for both modes)
Other patterns that can be derived from this main formula on some of the modes:
E.g. Dorian Mode:
3 - 2- 3 / 2 - 3 - 3 (Six-string long pattern)
3 - 2 - 3 / 3 - 2 - 3 Equal String/finger formula for both modes
3 - 2 - 3 / 3 - 3 - 2 with change of position (Dorian)
Three note per string Formula can also be deducted from this original fingerings, starting with 1st finger on 6th String.
3 - 3 - 3 / 3 - 3 - 3
